ORGANISTS & CANTORS:
Cantors and organists assist the congregation in their sung prayer. These
musicians require formal musical training and are required to audition and to
interview.
ADULT CHOIR:
The Adult Choir enhances the quality of worship with choral and instrumental
music regularly at the Sunday 10:00 a.m. Mass from September through May
or June, along with some holy days and other concerts throughout the year.
Rehearsals are held on Thursday night from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. The music
encompasses a variety of styles ranging from Gregorian chants to
contemporary works.
CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE:
The Contemporary Ensemble regularly sings at the Sunday 5:00 p.m. Mass
throughout the year, except the month of August. They also sing for Penance
Services and other special liturgical celebrations throughout the year. The
music is primarily contemporary, although they provide an eclectic array of
vocal music. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday night from 8:00 to 9:30 pm.
ALTAR SERVERS:
Boys and girls (age 10 and older) and families are eligible to assist the priests
at Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Training for new servers takes place
in November.
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION:
Appointed by the pastor.
MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY:
The ushers welcome arriving parishioners, assist in seating, take the
collections, distribute bulletins, and help in emergencies.
LECTORS:
Lay men and women selected to serve at the liturgy by reading the Word of
God. Training for new Lectors takes place in the Fall.
SACRISTAN:
Volunteers care for the vestments, altar linens, and sacred vessels. They also
maintain the sanctuary.
CHILDRENS' LITURGY OF THE WORD:
Takes place during the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturdays from September through
May, and then on selected Saturdays from June through August. Children ages
5 through 10 go to a separate place for their own celebration of the Liturgy of
the Word with readings adapted to their age and ability from the approved
Children’s Lectionary. An adult leader leads the liturgy and then gives a
reflection on the readings with the children participating. People are needed
to lead and assist the children.
PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK:
Lay men and women who have been appointed as Extraordinary Ministers of
Holy Communion take communion to sick people in the hospital, nursing
home or at home. Training is provided through the Archdiocese and the
